14 Oct Best Book I Read All Year
Book Review: Best Book of the Year
The best book I’ve read this year, and maybe the past few years, centers around hockey in a small, Scandinavian town. Beartown, written by the author of A Man Called Ove, William Backman, begins with fanatical coaches, obsessive parents and do-or-die youth hockey games. But it quickly dives much deeper and tackles topics like leadership, honesty, greed, friendship, and bullying. The character studies of the main teenagers in the book are introspective and genuine. This is NOT just a sports book but rather a brilliant novel. Part commentary, part thriller, part mystery. I highly recommend it.
